V1 Bing News app for Windows Phone 8 contained bugs and user experience issues due to shortcuts and simplifications taken during rushed development
Strategic content partners wanted app to include user "upsell" features such as content paywall login
Brand new Windows Phone 8 OS platform did not have many news apps, and newspaper publishers did not want to invest in developing a new app on a new platform with proven user base
Process
Utilized user-centered design process to identify and prioritize feature areas based on contextual inquiry in usability studies
Utilized Windows Phone emulator and Fiddler to identify and investigate bugs, such as identifying issues with the JSON analytics data reported by the app
Collaborated with Bing apps shared platform team on identifying and prioritizing feature development for headlines list and article reading experiences
Ensure app has been verified to comply with mandatory release criteria for accessibility, internationalization, globalization
Collaborate with newspaper publishers on ingesting newspaper content into Bing News backend service in return for building & publishing "white-label" app branded for the newspaper that utilizes same backend service.

Planned and coordinated front-end design & development for user experience feature improvements such as "graying out" headlines of articles read displaying timestamp of recently published articles in red color
Collaborated with premium content partner relationships with New York Times and Wall Street Journal on front-end design & development for custom content partner features such as content paywall.
